3 0 Shader Support
Its going to be for ghost recon advance warfighter. Also i know the x1600 has pixel shader 3.0 to which the x800gt dosnt.
Would the 1600 pro be a better upgrade for future games? That's really hard to say. I have a x1600 pro myself, and it's not a bad little card for $100, but it's not especially powerful. The x800gt is a faster card. While it may not handle all of the bells and whistles, it handles what it does better.
The 1600pro may be able to do all of the bells and whistles, but it does them slowly. I would say both cards are about equal - so go with price if you really want an opinion. The X800 GT only has 8 pixel pipelines; you'd think this would be a no-brainer. You'd think so but not quite.

Think of it like this; The X800GT barely beats the GF6600GT as long as it's the slightly higher clocked 256MB version, the 128MB version is the equal of the GF6600GT in most things and can lose some. Now the X1600Pro trades blows with the GF6600GT, but in the majority of older games and slightly more recent games it loses by a small margin to the GF6600GT. So, puting that into perspective the X1600Pro likely falls in just below the X800GT 256, but likely close to alongside the X800GT 128MB, except in games like F.E.A.R.
